Dear Students and ParentsI am happy to be your teacher at Ellerhorst Elementary in Pinole, CA. This will be my fifth year teaching in the West Contra Costa Unified School District, and with you in my class, I'm sure it will be better than ever. I look forward to exploring new and exciting topics with you as we all learn from each other. We will use modern technology every day in our classroom as we work toward achieving Common Core State Standards-based goals and objectives together.

About
|
I am an Education Specialist teaching 4th, 5th, and 6th graders at Ellerhorst Elementary School in Pinole, California. I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska where I graduated from East Anchorage High School in 1975. After working on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline as an apprentice heavy duty mechanic, I learned how to program computers and moved to California to pursue a technology career where I worked for over 20 years before becoming a teacher, realizing a childhood dream.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from the University of California, Berkeley. At San Francisco State University, I obtained an Education Specialist credential with authorizations to teach students with mild to moderate learning disabilities, students on the autism spectrum, and English language learners. I enjoy using technology in all aspects of my professional and personal life, and seize any opportunity to incorporate the arts, particularly music, into the classroom. My wife Suzanne and I live in Pinole and have four children and six grandchildren. In our free time, we enjoy traveling, riding our tandem bicycles, paddling our tandem kayak, and of course, spending time with our kids and grandkids. I also play musical instruments whenever I get a chance. |
